Description:

The Beaufort Historic Site displays restored historic homes and buildings with interpreters dressed in period attire providing guided tours. The most prominent structure is the 1825 Josiah Bell House, which displays Victorian period furnishings. Other points of interest at the site include the Old Burying Grounds, where Beaufort residents were buried until the early 20th century, and the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery, which exhibits artwork by local and regional artists. It is located in western Beaufort, near the North Carolina Maritime Museum.
